Hello everyone, I just started taking Stats and I have a question that the book doesn't explain really well. I was hoping someone could explain how an answer was achieved. The question is about trimmed means -- not the means, I can do those, but specifically how you figure the percentages. Here's a particular data set, ordered:
160 174 176 180 180 183 187 191 194 200 205 211 211 244
So, n = 14, the problem asks you to trim the highest and lowest number, and the resulting trimmed mean is: 191 . For the trimmed percentage the book has 7.14% . All I want to know is how to figure out that number? If I can just figure out one example I'm sure I'll be fine for the rest, but for some reason this isn't clicking for me.
Any help would be much appreciated!
