I have a question.
using a portable neutron generator which generates 14 MeV neutrons at 1 * 10^12 neutrons/second via the D-T fusion reaction, how long does it take to produce 20kg of Pu-239? assume every neutron is absorbed by fertile material.
from my calculation, it takes 1.6 million years. I am not sure if that's a reasonable answer or not. Is it possible to produce plutonium using the neutron generator I described above?
