Ack! Separate threads? And only 4 excalamtion points between them! See what happens when PF isn't working when I do my birthday rounds.
Happy Birthday, Math Is Hard & zooby!!!!!!!!!!!11111
I was going to make you one of those Barbie cakes, but they seem to send the message 'Look, kids, we've trapped Barbie in a mountain of confectionary gooiness. Let's slice her up with a knife and eat her.' And I just don't think that that's a good message to be sending. Instead, here is a pretty wholesome picture of a ladybug on a flower.

Happy Birthday MIH!
In honor of your birthday and love of kitties, I am posting an old favorite:
How To Give Your Cat A Pill
1. Pick up cat and cradle it in the crook of your left arm as if holding a baby. Position right forefinger and thumb on either side of cat's mouth and gently apply pressure to cheeks while holding pill in right hand. As cat opens mouth, pop pill into mouth. Allow cat to close mouth and swallow.
2. Retrieve pill from floor and cat from behind sofa. Cradle cat in left arm and repeat process.
3. Retrieve cat from bedroom, and throw soggy pill away.
4. Take new pill from foil wrap, cradle cat in left arm, holding rear paws tightly with left hand. Force jaws open and push pill to back of mouth with right forefinger. Hold mouth shut for a count of ten.
5. Retrieve pill from goldfish bowl and cat from top of wardrobe. Call spouse from garden.
6. Kneel on floor with cat wedged firmly between knees, hold front and rear paws. Ignore low growls emitted by cat. Get spouse to hold head firmly with one hand while forcing wooden ruler into mouth. Drop pill down ruler and rub cat's throat vigorously.
7. Retrieve cat from curtain rail, get another pill from foil wrap. Make note to buy new ruler and repair curtains. Carefully sweep shattered figurines and vases from hearth and set to one side for gluing later.
8. Wrap cat in large towel and get spouse to lie on cat with head just visible from below armpit. Put pill in end of drinking straw, force mouth open with pencil and blow down drinking straw.
9. Check label to make sure pill not harmful to humans, drink 1 beer to take taste away. Apply Band-Aid to spouse's forearm and remove blood from carpet with cold water and soap.
10. Retrieve cat from neighbor's shed. Get another pill. Open another beer. Place cat in cupboard, and close door on neck, to leave head showing. Force mouth open with dessert spoon. Flick pill down throat with elastic band.
11. Fetch screwdriver from garage and put cupboard door back on hinges. Drink beer. Fetch bottle of scotch. Pour shot, drink. Apply cold compress to cheek and check records for date of last tetanus shot. Apply whiskey compress to cheek to disinfect. Toss back another shot. Throw Tee shirt away and fetch new one from bedroom.
12. Call fire department to retrieve the damn cat from across the road. Apologize to neighbor who crashed into fence while swerving to avoid cat. Take last pill from foil wrap.
13. Tie the little bastard's front paws to rear paws with garden twine and bind tightly to leg of dining table, find heavy duty pruning gloves from shed. Push pill into mouth followed by large piece of filet steak. Be rough about it. Hold head vertically and pour 2 pints of water down throat to wash pill down.
14. Consume remainder of scotch. Get spouse to drive you to the emergency room, sit quietly while doctor stitches fingers and forearm and removes pill remnants from right eye. Call furniture shop on way home to order new table.
15. Arrange for SPCA to collect mutant cat from hell and call local pet shop to see if they have any hamsters.
HOW TO GIVE A DOG A PILL
1. Wrap it in bacon.
2. Toss it in the air
Hey MIH, why doesn't you're age show up in parentheses next to your name? Did the counter break?

"Math is hard!" is a reference to her Barbie avatar, Scott. On the talking Barbie you pull the ring and she says things like "Let's go shopping!" and "Math is hard!" It's a Barbie theme thing, is all.

I had a wonderful birthday. I had Friday off of work, so I decided to get out of town for the weekend. I took the train down to San Diego so Zooby and I, fellow April Fools, could celebrate OUR birthday. We went to the Birch Aquarium (http://aquarium.ucsd.edu) in La Jolla (beautiful!!!)and saw some HUGE jellyfish and later we tried to catch a glimpse of the elusive "green flash (http://mintaka.sdsu.edu/GF)" at sunset down at Pacific Beach. There's a great restaurant there for viewing, aptly named "The Green Flash". No green to be seen that evening, but we had a fabulous sunset nonetheless. Here's the place:

And I had some yummy oyster shooters. The place I stayed at had a wonderful heated swimming pool so I got to swim in the mornings. Oh, it was fantastic!

That's so cool that you and Zoob got to spend your birthday together! And it sounds like it was a great outing.
Thanks for the link explaining the "green flash." I had something else entirely different in mind when Zooby mentioned it (I was thinking you were talking about phosphorescence in the water after dark ).

Math, here is one of the shots I took of the sunset. It looks sort of yellow-green doesn't it, in that section right above the sun? I think we can fudge a bit and say we saw the green flash.

You can see those strange puffy-clouds on the horizon that the people next to us thought were alien space craft.

What a pretty picture! If the people next to you were gullible enough to think puffy clouds were alien space craft, maybe you should have played an April Fool's joke on them and told them it was the Honolulu skyline, only visible from the CA coast on really clear days.

WOW!!! WOWWEE!! OK, Zoob, that is VERRRRRRY greenish-looking. I thought my eyes were getting burned out from staring at the sun!
Moonie, there was quite a ruckus on the bar patio. Some guy was yelling, "Call the Coast Guard!" (He had had a few more oyster shooters than me.)

What's an oyster shooter? Is that some sort of shot with an oyster in it? And if so, how much do you have to drink before that sounds like a good idea? :yuck:

Same here. It was really hard to tell what color anything was after you glanced at the sun once or twice.

I know you're going to scold me but I went oyster-crazy this weekend. I love them slimy little suckers! Friday night, I had a giant oyster at the Chinese buffet we went to, Saturday, oyster shooters at the Green Flash(a shot glass filled with a raw oyster, cocktail sauce, and vodka), and for breakfast this morning a raw oyster combo at a very posh seafood restaurant (three types of oysters and I got to mix in my own fresh grated horseradish with the sauces). It was fabulous! On top of that I had all kinds of wonderful seafood. I don't have to worry about my mercury levels getting low anytime soon. :tongue2:

Oh, what?!! That jellyfish on the beach was already dead, and nobody would have seen me take a bite! I don't know why you had to make such a big deal about it! :frown:

Did Zooby stick around long enough to appreciate the aphrodesiac effects? I'm not going to scold; I'm sure the vodka killed any bacteria. I just think oysters are nasty, but you're more than welcome to my share. When raw, they seem an awful lot like snot, and when cooked, well, let's just say they're better raw. :yuck:

Did Zooby stick around long enough to appreciate the aphrodesiac effects? I was very respectful. Mostly from fear she might not be anatomically correct. Plus she was feeling sore from an incident at the aquarium:

I just have to post this beautiful photo again. So, do you suppose that could have been an aircraft carrier on the horizon? I saw some this morning and boy, were they MASSIVE! Until I saw them up close, I never comprehended how enormous they were.
