For a less expensive experiment; most cheap laser pointers can be power
modulated up to an amazing 10 MHz (or better) with a simple circuit
operating at 5 Volts DC. A complete circuit for the electronics
appeared in the magazine "Nuts & Volts" in the beginning of 2005.
