View Full Version : How come light doesn't lose energy when it travels?

Based on the conservation of energy, the work/energy that enables light
to travel has to come from somewhere. If we push a ball with force, it
will stop when the additional energy exhausted.

I know that the electric and magnetic components of light oscillate at
right angles to enable light to travel in very efficient way. But the
oscillation takes energy too.

How come light can travel for years without losing its energy?
