Can there be a preferred frame vs. observation? One scalar field is
unconstrained. Everything else appears to be locked by observation
and validated theory. The photon sector has been exhaustively
examined,
1) cosmologically: rotation of plane of polarization over cosmic
distances vs. wavelength from synchrotron radiation, etc. - the vacuum
is not dichroic or gyrotropic to extreme sensitvity.
2) locally: No aether effects, no Lorentz Invariance violations to
extreme sensitvity,

The mass sector has been exhaustively examined - with one exception,
1) Accelerators, GPS, and Gravity Probe B. GR is accurate.
2) Hipparcos and apparent stellar positions vs. sun's gravitation,
angle and distance. GR is accurate.
3) Mercury, Venus, and Earth perihelion rotation over time. GR is
accurate.
4) Deeply relativistic neutron star (pulsar) binaries,
/astro-ph/0609417. GR is accurate.
5) The Equivalence Principle is true for all compositions of matter
including magnets and the Nordtvedt effect. A neutron star core might
be strange matter, pion condensate, lambda hyperon, delta isobar, or
free quark matter. Gravitationally hyper-bound (~30% of rest mass),
hyper-spinning (~20% of lightspeed at equator), hyper-magnetic (10^8
tesla), hyper-dense (4-9x10^14 g/cm^3), superconducting neutronium
falls consistent with the Equivalence Principle and evolves according
to GR.
The only unobserved possiblity is a chiral pseudoscalar vacuum
background that differentially interacts with chiral (opposite parity)
mass distributions. That cannot be greater than 10^(-10) and more
likely 10^(-12) difference/average based on chemical observations.
There is no spontaneous resolution of chirality in nature other than
life. There is no parity Nordtvedt effect. Natural quartz is flawed
and racemic, as are all other chiral minerals. The Earth masses
5.9742x10^24 kg. Wet biomass is 3.6x10^14 kg. Water is not chiral.
All chiral protein amino acids are L-configuration. All chiral natural
sugars are D-configuration. Of the very small (dry chiral
biomass)/(total Earth mass), meat (L-amino acids) and wood (D-sugars)
cancel. There is nothing net observable by lunar laser ranging.
A parity Eotvos experiment has never been performed opposing opposite
geometric parity crystallographic space group P3(1)21 (right-handed
screw axis) and P3(2)21 (left-handed screw axis) single crystal quartz
solid spheres (macroscopically isotropic). A parity calorimetry
experiment using P3(1)21 and P3(2)21 benzil, mp 95 C, under Eotvos
rules can have four results:

1) No net signal.
2) Left- and right-handed crystals consistently fit with different
energies into left-handed vacuum. Since the melts are achiral and
identical, opposite parities of chemically identical crystal melting
to the common state must display different enthalpies of transition.
/_\H(fusion) will be different, /_\/_\(fusion) will be non-zero.
3) The angle between Earth's inertial acceleration spin and
gravitational acceleration orbit rotate 360 degrees each 24 hours.
This is the basis for a composition Eotvos experiment signal. Add
parity benzil test masses aligned N-S or E-W and the coordinate frame
cycles chiral, achiral, opposite chiral, achiral every 24 hours. A
sinusoidal /_\/_\(fusion) will appear.
4) (2)+(3). The expected achiral nodes of (3) will display
non-zero /_\/_\(fusion).
The parity calorimetry experiment with opposite parity benzil spheres
located between 40-50 degrees latitude (maximum inertial horizontal
component) is scheduled for ~Xmas. An informal two-day run using cut
faceted cylinders from grown raw crystals, proportioned to obey
Petitjean's math requirements for maximum geometric parity divergence,
will be run end of November.
If a composition Eotvos experiment is sensitive to 10^(-13)
difference/average (inertial mass)/(gravitational mass) for 90 days'
observation, a parity calorimetry experiment in benzil is sensitive to
3x10^(-18) difference energy/mass in a 15 minute run. Then, we will
know.
