There are two distinct methods of renormalization: A) BPHZ
renormalization, without any specific regularization. B) Counterterm
renormalization, usually with the help of dimensional regularization.
The second method is used in most QFT books to prove the
renormalizability of non-Abelian gauge theories.

Are there any introductory level references to BPHZ renormalization of
non-Abelian gauge theories? How are Slavnov-Taylor identities enforced
in the BPHZ renormalization program?

hep-th/9505101 appears useful both for that and for your previous
question regarding the background field gauge. I have only read the
introduction, though.
