1. The problem statement, all variables and given/known data
Write (a-b)^2(a-c)^2(b-c)^2 in term of its elementary symmetric functions
2. Relevant equations
elementary symmetric function for n=3 are:
S_1=a+b+c
S_2=ab+ac+bc
S_3=abc
3. The attempt at a solution
I multiplied this thing out to see if I could extract S_1,S_2, S_3
but I'm getting nowhere.
Any suggestions?
