In the LCAO theory the hybrids formed should be prthogonal and normal. I understand why they should be normal.
However i dont understand why are they taken to be orthogonal?
For instance if i assume that they are made orthogonal. Why then do we talk about covalent energy of two such hybrids when at the first place they are not meant to interact.
Thanks
