Hello -

I was wondering: can the big-bang be idealized as an electromagnetic
pulse? Or perhaps more appropriately, would there be a pulse
associated with the big-bang?

if so:

could the following idea from electrodynamics be brought to bear, in
considerations on cosmology:

With respect to momentum, P_z and energy U, John Lekner, in
arXiv:physics/0304022 wrote:

"In general, since P_z and U have been shown ot be independent of
time, their ratio is also independent of time. Whenever cP_z < U, we
can transform to a zero momentum frame. We suspect that this is
possible for all solutions which represent pulses converging onto and
then diverging from a focal region."

Would this be a useful analogy for something like an "oscillating
universe" model?

Just curious; cheers

[snip]

The Big Bang was not an explosion *in* space, it was an explosion *of*
space. There would be no place for an EMP pulse to propagate beyond
where it already was. The coordinate frame was not independent of its
contents.

I'd imagine it would be a pulse of energy in all ways surely? Broadband you
might say!

Of course when you start asking where you might be to detect it....
