majority carriers and minority carriers coexist, how?

I actually forgot the concept how do both the majority carriers and minority carriers coexist in n-type material or p-type material, and doin't recombine with each other.

I can slightly remember that they have some loose bonding with each other.

Can anyone please explain me the concept ?
