I collect knives (odd hobby, i know)

When I was a kid I collected knives...I always appreciated the craftsmanship in a quality knife. It started out with Boy Scout and hunting knives, but then I started buying them just because they were cool.

I also learned that I should never spread mayo with a good knife. :frown:

I too was fond of knives. I used to have a butterfly knife or commonly referred to in my country as the Balisong, similar to the one The Punisher was holding on one scene. I used to apply oil on it to make the joints looser thereby making it easy to perform neat tricks on it.

I'm really getting into those tactical knives from places like Cold Steel and Spyderco. The neighbors must think it a bit odd when I go in my back yard to practice with throwing knives. It all gets a bit expensive after a while though, especially if you appreciate steel quality.

Oh yeah, and my name is Corey bytheway. Or Corky if you want.

I'm 31 years old, my favorite color is blue, and my turn-ons include long walks on the beach, candlelight dinners, and jello wrestling.

Got my BS in Engineering from RPI in wonderful Troy, NY in 1995. Liked the school so much I stuck around to go for my PhD in theoretical subatomic physics. Unfortunately, my thesis advisor died and I lost my funding, so now I'm on leave of absence (anyone want to send me 27 grand a year so I can finish?). Now, I'm teaching math as an adjunct at a local college, and it looks like I'll get hired as a full professor. If that happens, I'll get the funding I need to change my userid to "Doctor Tom". Keep your fingers crossed for me.

My favorite subjects are the Standard Model (no kidding!), mathematical logic, and analytic philosophy. I am also making an attempt to learn string theory and LQG, thanks to some handy online resources I found.

Well it all started with my Father's family name being Pirrip, and my christian name Philip, my infant tongue could make of both names longer or more explicit than Pip. So I called myself Pip, and came to be called Pip.

Mult-tasking is my game. I'm a freethinker, skeptic, and just some guy that likes to spend too much of his time reading on consciousness and its philosophy (translation: spending more time than moderators do in the Philosophy threads), and reading Tom Mattson's and chroot's physics posts!

I'm a 41 year old physicist working for the gummint. I have a lovely wife who got her degree in Diplomacy and Technology concerning the Soviet Union in 1990. We're almost done paying for it! I have an 8 year old daughter who is trying to drive me insane, and a 3 year old son who is trying to neuter me. I take so many shots to the groin I feel like I'm living in an episode of "America's Funniest Home Videos".

I like history, politics, economics and movies that make me think, "Wow that's cool!" and "Wow that's stupid!" at the same time. I know exactly how to run the world, but could use a little help organizing my own life. I am the world's only 6'5" dwarf.

I am a 19 year old college student majoring in philosophy and thinking of another major in math. I enjoy sleeping, reading, pretty women, and alcohol. I was raised in a devote Mormon family but have been an athiest/apatheist since I was about 13. My philosophical interests are primarily centered on post-analytic philosophers (Davidson, Rorty, later Wittgenstein, etc.).

I go to school part time, and I love my math and science classes. I love to go out to clubs in L.A. but there's very little time for that anymore between school and work. I have a cat named Jellyroll who lives with me at my little apartment in West L.A.

Phatmonkey asked me in another thread if I am Chinese and also my nationality (Taiwanese? Hong Kong?). Since that thread has been closed I will answer his question here.

Yes I am a PRC-borne entirely Hong Kong educated (except for two brief years in Singapore) ethnic Chinese. As one of my best friends is Taiwanese, I know a bit about Taiwanese mentality. I use to practice in corporate finance and have now switched to something less demanding (read: completely brain deadening). I am also an MRS aspirant  .

My latest achievement? Hmmm I have just taken a IQ test which places me in the same league as Zero, and I am mightily proud!! (Okay I know he says IQ tests are bogus but as I have such high score I refuse to believe it).

I am young, and lovin' it. I LOVE physics and any type of science, and international stuff. I enjoy reading and studying on my spare time...which means that's almost all I do. Besides that, I like going to the gym, perk up those muscles (which I know are under there...but they refuse to come out...must force'm out then huh?) I hopefully have. I have a reputation for being a "cool nerd" at school.
I try to be funny but never succeed. As my best friend once said to me " I'm not lauging with you, I'm laughing AT you! hahaha" and of course, she means that in a nice way. I tease her about being an x-midget. We always have good laughs though. seriosly, always.

I've already finished two credits-carrying university courses about astrophysics and mathematics in the past 2 years while I was still in high school and I'm planning to study another one about differential geometry in the coming summer holiday. Just like most of the members here, I'm a forever lover of maths and science.

I'm also kind of into the martial arts, jujitsu and judo being my specialities. I like cloudy but warm days, and nice long, leisurely walks that go nowhere in particular.

I also, in my spare time, when not on arbitrary internet forums, I enjoy devising insane schemes for world domination (notice my signature).
