I am looking for some kind recommended ratio between the radius of the stylus tip and the radius of a measured workpiece. My instinct tells me it should be somewhere between 10:1 and 20:1, but I can't find any information on this on any of the Standards websites (ISO,ANSI,etc.). Since the stylus tip is stationary in roundness measurement, it may not be all that critical (except in cases where the workpiece is notched), but there has to be a reason that most of them I've seen have a radius of ~1-3 mm. Any ideas or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
