View Full Version : Topology of Stress

I'm wondering if generally speaking, properties of materials and can undergo stress (I suppose that everything) can be traced to some sort of topological characteristics. Perhaps not everything that is made of atoms has can undergo stress. Perhaps stress is a more general term that implies some topological properties. Specifically, can anything that can have a stress associated with it have a topology that allows it to rip apart and tear if enough stress is applied? Thanks.
