d.c motor identification

i want to get the transfer function of a d.c motor , so i acan use the pole-placement technique

so i must:

1- to introduce different sinusoids at the i/p & get the steady state sinusoids
then get the frequency response , then the desired transfer function

or

2- to use atool box like simulink or matlab to do that
