Speech Recognition & Linked Robotics

It's my final year in engineering & I'm thinking about making a project that deals with Speech controlled Robot or something on those lines. I need a little help here. I need to know if it's feasible & possible to create a, say, robotic arm that is controlled by speech. Afaik, I'll have to use Matlab for the Speech Processing & Recognition part, right? :uhh: And for the robotic part shall I use a microcontroller programmed with C/C++ or use Microprocessor language? :confused:
