I dunno, budding engineering students do give off a similar aura too.

Post-test questions are even worse: "We're not going to have to know what the color bands on resistors mean for any of the other tests, are we?"
Reply: "Umm, that's probably something you should know for the rest of your life ...... or at least until you pick a new major."
That actually turned out to be kind of prophetic. He started with 24 students and finished with 7; 6 that passed. And one of the 6 that passed was taking the class for the third time - his quest completed, he did change his major. Ironically, the person that asked the question passed the course and completed his degree.

I hate it when undergrads say things that they think are funny but really aren't. "Its going to be a take home exam, right"
hahahha, not funny.

It's not just the pre-meds. I teach a course for the nursing school, and they do this too. They really are not happy that our course does not curve, does not give make-up exams (unless they call ahead and can provide a doctor's note), does not give a later exam to accommodate their other classes (they know the exam schedule from day 1), and, hee, doesn't give an answer bank to choose from on the practical exam. I ask them if their patients will come with an answer bank or will be okay with them only knowing half the material and still getting a nursing degree. They complain if I take off half a point on the exam because they wrote vein instead of artery, and I explain that it makes quite a lot of difference if they stick a needle into someone's artery when they're told to get blood from a vein. Yep, I'm mean.

I should have read all the replies before posting. But, yep, I get that one too. "Is the final exam cumulative?" No, it isn't, but again, I don't think their patients would appreciate it if they only remembered their anatomy long enough to pass an exam. They're REALLY going to hate me on the next exam. I've...*gulp*...written questions that require them to apply old information to new material.

 I'm going to have to remember that one!
