How to get convection pattern using bromocresol green indicator or
any other way. Procedure is needed.

Sodium fluorescein or plus blacklight is much better for contrast.
Put a UV filter over the recording lens, look against a black
background. Water pH around 9.
Cast loose gelatine with the fluorophor. Place some of the bits
either at the base of the convection plume or suspended in mid-action
with one strand of picture hanging wire. As the loose gelatine
leaches the fluorophore lights up the plume.
Flake aluminum pigment is very nice if you have modest Reynolds
numbers or a viscous medium (e.g., corn syrup, glycerol added to
water, straight ethylene glycol).
