Project Topic

I have to make a project for my school, which takes about half a year. 120 man hours are required for this project. Since they refused to let me do it with a mate, I haven't got a clue what i could do. It has to be something from your own mind / fingers. Basically you can chose whatever you want. Information technology for example But I don't know what I could do ? Got any ideas for me ? I thought about writting a program for a store which helps the manage their stock etc. Or do you have an idea what to program and then write your work about it ?
