It will depend on whether she's breast feeding or not. If she isn't, menstrual cycles will resume sooner than if she is. Typically, menstrual cycles resume about 9 months after having the baby, about the same time most women start weaning the baby off breast milk. But, as with anything, that's all an average. Some women are surprised when they learn they are pregnant sooner than that (breast feeding is not guaranteed birth control as many people believe) and others take longer to resume cycling.
