The dark energy is the energy of the vacuum, so as the Universe
expands, there is more vacuum, and thus more vacuum energy.

There may be gravitons entering our brane that came from other branes
but that would not cause dark energy. However, people have theorized
solutions to the dark energy problem within the context of brane world
models, such as that inflation could be caused by the distance between
the branes or the angle between intersecting branes.
