I'm performing some experiments for a research project that involve electrospinning. The basic apparatus is a positively charged syringe needle separated from a grounded target (which is another syringe needle in the same plane but perpendicular to the charged needle). Would it be accurate to say that the electric field strength is the voltage supplied by the power source divided by the distance between the charged needle and the grounded target, or is this overly simplistic?
