I'm seeking a simplified explanation of how a tunnel diode works in terms of quantum principles. Specifically, I'm looking for for a layman's description of the time-energy product uncertainty. It must be suitable for a senior high school physics class that has already covered introductory quantum theory and basic semiconductor theory. Even a good website reference would be welcome.
