Computer forensics

I'm interested in going to school for computer forensics but I'm not sure what a career in computer forensics is like. My school counselor suggested that I start with a 2 year in computer science at the community college then transfer to virgnia tech and declare it as my major.What are the day to day tasks that are involved and what other degree's would help me in this line of work? any advice would help thanks.
