I was looking at a derivation of the mechanical equilibrium equations in polar coordinates based on a free body diagram, which made sense to me.
On the other hand, I don't understand how these equations are related to the equilibrium equations in cartesian coordinates when considering the transformation x = r*cos (theta) and y = r*sin (theta)
can anyone help with this?
