i got a lab using AFM to scan semiconductor surface using both tapping and contact mode, but i not sure the principle behind it. any kind souls mind to enlighten me on this? the lab manual mention about van der waal and magnetic force on the tip interact with the surface to plot out the 3d image, but just how it works? thanks
