Is he currently at a university or have a reachable email address?

Why don't you trust your own judgement in this? Whether a
person is a "respectable scientist" is not a matter of
personal opinion, but only depends on the physical content
of his work. If you are unsure about some specific ideas, why
not put them to this discussion group?

Phil Gibbs is a competent physicist. Last I knew he was employed
outside the field but he had a continuing interest in physics.
I recall 't Hooft commenting, on reading some of Gibbs' posts on
