I vote for Henry Miller, author of among many other books 'Tropic of Cancer'. He is as important and influential as Hemingway. Ok, his philosophy sometimes gets in the way of his writing and he can bang on a bit but anyone reading Tropic of Cancer knowing that it was written in the early 1930s cannot failed to be knocked over by its style, energy and ambition.

Henry Miller should have been awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature.
