No, "veterni" does not mean "I took a nap" (or any form of sleep) … it isn't even a verb.

According to my Smith's Latin-English Dictionary (3rd edition), there is an adjective "veternosus" (lethargic, sleepy, drowsy, languid, spiritless), and a noun "veternus" (old age, lethargy, sleepiness, drowsiness, sluggishness, sloth), both derived from "vetus" (old), but no verb.

"Veni vidi veterni" would mean "I came, I saw, of drowsiness" (or "Drowsy people! I came, I saw!")

Seems that Jorge Cham has been caught napping! :wink:
