If gluons can become photons and photons can become gravitons (hence loss of energy of microwave background photons)
wouldn't we have the ingredients for a unified field theory.
The electromagnetic field which is vector (rank 1 tensor)
would have to change into a rank 2 tensor field.
The fields wouldn't be one rank or another but constantly changing between the two.
