interested in physics since my early teens.

I was watching the NOVA show "The Elegant Universe" on a local PBS
station last night and was fascinated by the way String Theory was
introduced and described.

The show ended by stating that Strings Theory predicted that there
should be observable traces of expanded Strings occurring after the
Big Bang. I remember seeing photographs of large stellar structures
that formed repeating patterns. These were massive, regular,
repeating patterns of stars similar to shock waves.

I went online last night looking for those images, but instead found
images of the CMB that look much the way Strings are described.

Could these be the predicted traces of Strings as predicted by String
Theory?
