Hello All.
Im trying to find the governing equation (probably PDE) of the motion of rope that is pulled/pushed in one end along a general curve (X(t),Y(t)) in the plane. Im thinking its kinda a generalized "Child with Toy"(tractrix)-problem. But i could not find this subject dealt with anywhere in my textbooks or other published litterature. Can anyone point me towards a reference, and/or describe how to get the result?
