Topology of Inhomogeneous 3-manifolds

There is a lot of literature on allowable topologies for homogeneous, isotropic, constant curvature 3-manifolds. What about inhomogeneous 3-manifolds, spacelike foliations of the Lemaitre-Tolman, Szekeres or other models? Any references appreciated.
