SUMMARY

Freak weather conditions have caused significant destruction across Europe and the United States, leading to loss of life and numerous injuries. The ongoing heatwave in Europe has resulted in glacier melting in the Alps and dangerous rock slides on the Matterhorn. These extreme weather events are attributed to atmospheric sprites, which are electrical discharges occurring high in the atmosphere.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of climate change impacts
  • Knowledge of atmospheric phenomena, specifically sprites
  • Familiarity with glacial dynamics and their environmental implications
  • Awareness of geological hazards related to rock slides
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the effects of climate change on glacial melting
  • Study the phenomenon of atmospheric sprites and their implications
  • Explore geological safety measures for areas prone to rock slides
  • Investigate historical weather patterns and their evolution due to climate change
USEFUL FOR

Environmental scientists, climate change researchers, geologists, and anyone interested in understanding the impacts of extreme weather events on ecosystems and human safety.

"FREAK weather conditions stretching from France to the United States have caused widespread destruction, claimed lives and injured dozens of people.

In Europe, the heatwave currently being experienced across the continent has caused parts of glaciers to melt in the Alps and resulted in worrying rock slides on the Matterhorn."

its all caused by them pesky sprites in our atmosphere
