There are lots of engineering and science examples using second order des but they are all linked to a particular fields such as vibrations, mechanics, electrical principles. Some of these topics are pretty difficult to understand and sometimes the student is lost in the engineering terms rather than solving the given de. Is there a more generic tangible approach to second order de which is attractive to a general 18 year old student so that they are not lost in scientific or engineering terms.
