1. The problem statement, all variables and given/known data
Question:Phylogeny predicts a hierarchical classification system because
A. groups of descendents of one common ancestor are nested within a group of descendents from a more ancient common ancestor.
B. the taxonomic system was made by evolutionists.
C. the organisms that descend from the same common ancestor have a hierarchical structure (cells are nested units of tissues which are nested units of organs, etc.)
D. the genetic regulatory system is a hierarchical network made of modules that are all interconnected.
E. descendents of one ancestor necessarily show greater similarity to each other with regard to their adaptations and functions (e.g. flight, marine habitat, carnivorous) than they do to descendents of a different ancestor.

2. Relevant equations
definition...related to genetics, similarities

3. The attempt at a solution
I think it's either C or E(more towards C). But my friend said it's not C because it describes hiearchy in tissues. What is the correct answer??:( HELP NEEDED!!!
