As an alternative to the standard particle accelerator would it be
possible to develop a waveguide for an electron or proton by creating a small
track in a metallic crystal with a width on the order of the particle's
wavelength and curved into a circular path? Then you wouldn't need the
magnetic fields to bend the particle into a curved path. You would only need
an electric field to accelerate the particle. Would this work?
