The question reads:
"If the derivative of the sum of two functions is equal to the sum of the derivatives of those two functions, what is the instantaneous velocity of an object whose position is given by x=4t^2+3t^4?"

All this question is asking me to do is find the derivative x right?

so my answer would be...x'=12t^3+8t?

That's right.
