Hi guys

I am a little confused regarding phase matching. We have light at frequency ω going into the medium, and this light rocks the electrons at 2ω (non-linear). Now, this generated wave also rocks the electrons at 2ω, however this is linear. Is it correct to say that the phase matching condition Δk = 2kω-k2ω is merely saying that we have maximum output when the phase velocities of these two genereated waves are equal?

Best,
Niles.
