For my tensors class our professor told us to come up with a project that involves some aspect of tensors in a significant way. My project is as follows: a stream of fluid is injected tangentially to the inner surface of a cylindrical vessel. I'm assuming an inviscid fluid. My professor suggested that the Ricci curvature tensor would be something that I could use. We however have not covered this in class. I've tried looking online for some simplified explanations of the Ricci tensor as well as looked in books but I can't find anything that helps in this manor. Could someone explain how I might be able to use this tensor in relation to curved fluid flow or maybe suggest something else that I could use for this project?
