Symmetric and Matched Amplifiers...???

I am studying Electronics II(Freq response,diff and multistage amplifiers..etc) and I want to know what are the conditions to tell that two (or more) amplifiers are symmetric or matched?
How does this knowledge help in circuit analysis?
(The book I am studying is Microelectronics Sedra/Smith)
