Can someone help explain the importance of calculating the partitioning coefficients of solute elements. I can see in low carbon steel, carbon will diffuse very fast and solute elements really slow. And the carbon will affect the hardness of the phases, so what are all the reasons I would want to worry about the solute elements? So if I obtained a partitioning coefficient of 30 for carbon and 2 for Mn? Thanks for any help
