Mathematical rules for Calubi-Yau Shapes

I am a high school senior and I am planning to do a science fair project on Calabi-Yau shapes. I want to take one of the simplest shapes and develop mathematical rules for its specific geometry. My question is: is this a concievable project and can anyone help me out or help me find some resources to get me started in the right direction? Any help would be very appreciated :).
