In the peltier effect, when a p type material and n type material touch, electrons are transfered from the p type to the n. In a peltier module when current is applied, both ways, from p to n, and n to p, a side gets cold, and a side gets hot. Why does this work with a p and n type material, but not any material? If you have a battery, and make a circuit with copper wire, then one side doesn't get hot and the other cold.
