Hi, I recently stumbled upon this picture and I've absolutely loved it:

While there are a number of things in it that strike me, the biggest thing that turned my head is the depth of field (with regards to the background galaxies) that you do not normally see in deep space photography.

I am wondering what caused it, is it simply an artifact of computer processing, or does it have something to do with the fact that it was taken with a multi-antenna array (the VLT), and if so why would that cause it?

EDIT: I just realized I said Field of View instead of Depth of Field, I'm sorry about that.
