If I have read Brian Greene's the elegant universe, is it worth my time to read hyperspace? Im sure it's a good book and all, but will it be very repetative?

I have read both books and I do recommend "Hyperspace". Although they cover similar topics the main focus of "Hyperspace" is multiple dimensions while "Elegant Universe" is more about String Theory.

I read "The Elegant Universe" first which was a great book and has allot more info and goes more in depth into string Theory. "Hyperspace" has a broader range and is very well written (except for a few typos! heh heh) its ideas were less abstract and were much easier to visualize. The sections on the 5th dimension and advanced civilizations blew my mind!!! Consequently my vision of the world has now been permanently changed.

I highly recommend "Hyperspace" and no you wont feel like you're reading the same thing twice, if anything, you'll be gaining another perspective and adding to your arsenal of knowledge. Having already read "The Elegant Universe" you will grasp the concepts easier.

Hope this helps, go buy it! Enjoy!

Hyperspace is a litmus test. Professional physicsts don't like it; too speculative. But people learning physics swear by it and more than one smart physics student has testified it turned them on to physics.
