Particle/Wave and String Theory

I have a couple of question which are relatively simple, but I can find no relatively obvious sources of information. Any answers or even pointers are appreciated.

As far as the particle wave dichotomy, couldn't the wave information be carried within the strings themselves?

In otherwords, when a single particle can be shown to create an interference pattern with itself, couldn't the frequency be contained within the vibrating string, and the the interference offset be due to additional time?
