I find this all very interesting but haven't read enough about it, and take a little comfort from the comment that niave questions might be helpful to others, so... is there necessarily just eleven (or 26) dimensions, or is that the smallest possible, and must the the other dimensions only be within the 4 we know, or does the theory to date allow them beyond as well?
