Since B lies on the line y= x (according to your picture), we can take B to be (x0,y0). A is on the x-axis so we can take A to be (x1,0)
Since we are given that the slope of the line is m, y= mx+ b so, in particular, x0= mx0+ b or b= (1-m)x0 and 0= mx1+ b so b= -m1: we have the equation -mx1= (1-m)x0.
The distance from (x0,x0) to (x1, 0) is \sqrt{(x_0- x_1)^2+ x_0^2}= L so (x0-x1)2+ x02= L2.
Can you solve those two equations for x0 and x1?
