I recently read a book called Messages in Water, by Masaru Emoto. I kind of like his way of thinking, but the book does not provide hardly any scientific facts on how he conducts his experiments.
The basis of the book is that human intent can change the state of water. He shows this by photographing water crystals after they have been exposed to certain forms of intent (Love, hate, etc.)
I was wondering if anyone knows of any REAL SCIENCE experements that back this form of theory. I'm not trying to start a mind over matter argument, I'm simply wondering if there has been and real scientific study into the concept.
Thanks

No. There's no scientific theory backing this up that I'm aware of.

Emoto is a complete crackpot.
Put the book to some good use, for example by heating up your stove with it.

Did he cuddle the crystals to impose love on them or what?
Could his experimental methods be utilized elsewhere perhaps?
It'd be awesome if you could just yell at a powder sample "don't you dare give me overlapping peaks!" when doing a powder diffraction experiment and so on. All hail the new science!

HAHA! - That thought did go through my head, however I'm always willing to keep an open mind. I have also purchased, but not read yet Conscious Acts of Creation www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ tg/detail/-/1929331053?v=glance which seemed to provide some scientific grounding to the concept. Are these people thought to be on crack aswell?

Why don't you start to learn something real instead?

Is there a reason why you are giving things like this FREE PUBLICITY and, not to mention, your money? Have you run out of legitimate things to read and amuse yourself with?
.. and an "open mind" is a dangerous thing to have. Close it quickly before flies get in!

We'll of course I've not run out of legitimate things to learn, heck I've barley started. I do see your point on the free publicity though. I guess what I was saying was .. um .. I’ve been silly enough to buy this book, does anyone know if I should waste my time … and I guess the answer is a resounding NO! – Let’s not waste any more time on the topic then.
